The Indonesian National Team Ranked 146 FIFAs After Beating Brunei Darussalam 6-0
JAKARTA - The Indonesian national team won a big victory over Brunei Darussalam in the first leg of the 2026 World Cup Qualification. These results also helped Indonesia rise to rankings in the ranks of FIFA rankings.
The match against Brunei Darussalam was held at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK), Jakarta on Thursday, October 12. The Garuda squad as the host managed to win with a landslide score of 6-0.
The six goals were scored through Dimas Drajad's hat trick in the 7th minute, 72 and 91, Rizky Ridho's one goal in the 12th minute and Brace Ramadhan Sananta in the 63rd and 67th minutes.
The victory in SUGBK made the Indonesian national team get an additional 8.66 points. As a result, Shin Tae-yong's team has now collected a total of 1061.53 points and has the right to replace St Kitts and Nevis, who are ranked 146th.
On September 21, 2023, the Indonesian national team was still ranked 147th in the world by collecting 1052.87 points. However, with a victory over Brunei Darussalam, the position of the Garuda Squad slowly rose.
The opportunity to rise to the ranking is also wide open, because after this the national team still has an agenda against Brunei in the second leg which will take place on 17 October.
If the national team manages to win in the second leg, Shin Tae-yong's team will not only have the opportunity to continue to rise in rankings, but also qualify for the second round of the Asian zone 2026 World Cup Qualifiers and join Group F with Vietnam, the Philippines and Iraq.
