Elon Musk's X Corp Must Pay More Than IDR 17 Billion to Former Twitter Official
JAKARTA - X Corp, the successor company to Twitter, owned by Elon Musk, had to pay legal fees of 1.1 million US dollars or more than IDR 17 billion due to the aftermath of the purchase of Twitter at the end of last year.
Quoted from The Verge, Elon Musk's acquisition of Twitter faced obstacles last year. Musk even tried to cancel the acquisition agreement worth Rp. 44 billion US dollars (IDR 688 billion).
After long problems and Twitter suing Musk because he wanted to cancel the acquisition, the Tesla owner finally took over Twitter. After being led by him, Twitter carried out re-branding with the name “X”.
However, serious problems occurred after Musk fired Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal, former Chief Policy Officer Vijaya Gadde, and other Twitter officials. These officials did not remain silent and tried to sue Elon Musk.
X was accused of failing to pay the legal bills of Agrawal, Gadde, and other colleagues. They also sued Musk for not paying the bill for Gadde's appearance before the United States Oversight and Reform Commission.

Actually, X has already paid their debt. However, they only paid 600 thousand US dollars (IDR 9 billion) of the total debt, as reported by Bloomberg.
In the end, Delaware Chancery Court Judge Khataleen St. J. McCormick, won a lawsuit filed by former officials at Twitter. X was deemed to have violated his duties by covering costs arising from the work of Twitter officials for his company.
Even though X Corp was surprised by the amount of fees they had to pay, namely IDR 17 billion, the court judge still agreed with the amount they authorized.
According to Judge McCormick, the money that X had to pay was indeed large, but looking at the problem, the amount of fees charged to X was still reasonable.
