President Jokowi Emphasizes The Importance Of Village Development
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo emphasized the importance of developing rural areas, such as those made by the Indonesian Muslim Brotherhood (Parmusi).
"The development of the village is very important, in line with the government's development program from the outskirts," said Jokowi at the opening of the National Jambore Dai in Madani Parmusi 2023 Village in Cianjur Regency, West Java, as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, September 26.
According to Jokowi, the government has shown a commitment to development by providing village funds which until 2023 amounted to Rp539 trillion for 74,800 villages throughout the country.
Through the distribution of these village funds, said Jokowi, 326,000 kilometers of village roads have been built, 6,400 village reservoirs to support irrigation, as well as 14,000 village markets.
"Otherwise (developed) means that many are corrupt there. I will lower the BPK and BPKP to check because almost every year approximately Rp. 1 billion to Rp. 2 billion is sent to villages. So, if they don't become goods, the village head will be arrested," said Jokowi.
