Denying Prosecutor's Indictment, Lukas Enembe: No Need To Check Hundreds Of Witnesses, I'm Clean And Clear

JAKARTA - Former Papua Governor Lukas Enembe said the charges regarding accepting bribes and gratuities were merely accusations. Because, he claims to be a clean and clear governor.This statement was conveyed by Lukas Enembe through his attorney when reading the plea or memorandum of defense at the trial at the Corruption Court at the Central Jakarta District Court, Thursday, September 21."I have been accused and charged with receiving gratuities of Rp. 1 billion from Rijatono Lakka and owning a Hotel Angkasa, a gift from Rijatono Lakka worth Rp. 25.9 billion (Rp. 25,958,352,672) and money from an entrepreneur, namely Piton Enumbi, worth Rp. 10.4 billion (Rp. 10,413,929,500)," he said.Lukas also said that the prosecutor did not need to ask up to 184 witnesses and 4 experts to prove his dakwan. Because, of the several witnesses presented at the trial, all of them were said to have stated that they did not know him and did not know about the alleged gratification."In such a thick case file but in the end what was proposed in the trial was only 17 witnesses, all of whom had explained that they did not know me, did not know what fractification crime I had committed," he said.That way, the indictment of the public prosecutor regarding gratification is not proven. Moreover, Lukas claimed that he was a clean governor."Because I did not do what was accused and heralded so far. I am the Governor of Papua who is clean and clear," said Lukas.Previously, Lukas Enembe was found guilty of committing a criminal act of corruption and gratification. Thus, the public prosecutor (JPU) charged him with imprisonment for 10 years and 6 months."Sentenced ten years and six months," said the prosecutor.Not only criminal, but the prosecutor also demanded Lukas Enembe to pay a fine. The amount reached Rp1 billion."(Sanctions) a fine of Rp. 1 billion," said the prosecutor.
In this case, Lukas Enembe was charged with violating Article 12 letter a or Article 11 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning Amendments to Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Corruption Crimes Jo. Article 55 paragraph (1) 1st of the Criminal Code Jo. Article 65 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code.Then, Article 12B of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 20 of 2001 concerning Amendments to Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption.
