Hong Kong Open 2023: Leo/Daniel and Pram/Yere Qualify for the Second Round
JAKARTA – Men's doubles pair Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin and Pramidya Kusumawardana/Yeremia Rambitan have qualified for the second round of the 2023 Hong Kong Open.
Leo/Daniel qualified after winning two straight games 21-13 and 21-10 over the pair Chang Ko-Chi/Po Li-Wei at the Hong Kong Coliseum, Tuesday, September 13 2023.
The 2019 world junior champion became the third Indonesian men's doubles player to reach the second round of the Hong Kong Open. Next, they will probably meet their colleagues, Bagas Maulana/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri.
That happens if Bagas/Fikri can beat Lu Ching Yao/Yang Po Han. When this news was written, the two couples had not yet entered the playing field.
Previously, Pram/Yere also secured second round tickets. They qualified after beating Japanese representatives Ayato Endo/Yuta Takei in two straight games 21-11 and 21-16.
Pram/Yere will have a day's rest before playing the second round of the BWF Super 500 event. They will later face Keiichiro Matsui/Yoshinori Takeuchi.
This Japanese pair passed the first round after defeating fourth seeds from Malaysia, Ong Yew Sin/Teo Ee Yi.
"Today we feel like we played well, we got the game pattern. Tomorrow we have a day's rest but we still have practice so we want to stay focused and don't slack off," said Jeremiah after the match.
Prior to these two pairs, first seed Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto secured tickets for the second round.
The world number one qualified after winning over Su Ching Heng/Ye Hong Wei. Next, they will meet Lee Fang-Chih/Lee Fang-Jen.
Meanwhile, the pair Apriyani/Siti Fadia also advanced to the round of 16 after beating their compatriots, Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma/Amalia Cahaya Pratiwi, 21-19 and 21-19.
