The Indonesian Navy Evacuated Crew From The Kandas Ship That Hit The Karang In Batam
The Indonesian Navy assisted in the evacuation of crew members (ABK) of the Garuda Jaya 8 motorboat (KM) which ran aground as a result of hitting a coral in the waters of Nganang Island, Batam City, Riau Islands.
"The sea security patrol ship (Patkamla) Lobam 1-4-07 helped evacuate the crew of KM Garuda Jaya 8 which ran aground in the waters of Ngenang Island," said Commander of Lantamal IV First Admiral TNI Tjatur Soniarto as reported by ANTARA, Friday, September 8.
He explained that the ship loaded with fish and ice initially moved from Kijang, Bintan Regency to Punggur, Batam City. However, due to unfavorable weather, the ship was carried by the current to Nganang Waters and stuck on the reef.
"When on the reef, the ship's position became tilted and the water began to enter the hold of the ship," he said.

After receiving reports from local fishermen, his party immediately headed to the scene and assisted in the evacuation. "ABK was successfully evacuated safely and the ship's cargo has been moved using a pompong, then taken to the nearest people's port," he said.
Selanjutnya, pihaknya masih berusaha melakukan penarikan terhadap kapal milik perusaman tersebut dari atas berasa menggunakan kapal TNI AL, namun masih belum menghasilkan hasil.
"We are still monitoring and trying to evacuate the ship from the reef," he said.
