Daniel Mananta Reads The Meaning Of The Quran, Quraish Shihab: Good
JAKARTA - After denying the issue of converting to Islam, Daniel Mananta revealed that he studied Islam by reading the Koran. His confession was conveyed during a conversation with M. Quraish Shihab on his YouTube channel.
Daniel then admitted that he had read the holy book of the Qur'an in English translations. Daniel also admitted that he had read half of the contents of the holy book of the Qur'an.
"I myself have actually tried to read the Qur'an too. Yes, up to half, but in English. In Arabic, I don't understand," said Daniel to Quraish, quoted Monday, July 10.
"There is no problem," said M. Quraish Shihab.
Daniel tried to read the Qur'an because he was amazed by a number of fellow Muslims who seemed at peace in his heart.
"Because I feel that many Muslims I know, their hearts are very peaceful. I really like them, I talk to them," said Daniel.
"And I want to know what the teachings make them like this, so it's someone I like. That's where I'm actually starting to find out about the Qur'an myself," he continued.

Quraish Shihab admits that he also reads the Bible. According to him, there is no prohibition for a person to read the holy book of another religion. However, Quraish emphasizes that the holy book of each religion is believed to remain a priority.
Quraish Shihab then praised Daniel's open mind to reading the Qur'an other than the Bible.
"Yes, it's natural, good. And a lot of things are in line (the Qur'an and Bible)," Quraish Shihab told Daniel Mananta.
