AI-Related Job Requests In The United States Increase By 20 Percent

JAKARTA - Reports from the Indeed job vacancies portal show that the number of jobs postings related to Generative AI in the United States increased by about 20% last month. This is because companies are looking for ways to leverage technology that has been widely considered the next major growth driver.

The figure in May, as many as 204 per million job posts, is also more than double the level of 2021 and shows enthusiasm for AI triggered by OpenAI's ChatGPT success.

The role of data scientists accounts for 5% of the total AI-related work posts on the Indeed platform in the United States, while roles such as software engineers, machine learning engineers, and data engineers are also in great demand.

"We are seeing a significant increase in job seekers' interest in AI-related work, especially since the introducing of ChatGPT," said Nick Bunker, director of economic research at Indeed.

This spike occurs at a time when the technology work market is generally under pressure due to breaking mass employment in companies such as Meta Platforms and Amazon.com Inc., which are working to adjust their budget to face uncertain economies.

Overall, work in technology has decreased by 43.6% in the United States since June last year, according to Indeed, while the number of AI jobs available cannot meet the interests of job seekers.

Data from Indeed shows that Generative AI-related job searches increased to 147 per million total job searches in May, compared to nearly nothing in the previous year.

Indeed's website in the United States features a list of Generative AI jobs from companies such as Meta Platforms, Apple, Tiktok, Pinterest, and Amazon.com.
