JAKARTA - Google will now use publicly available data to help train its Artificial Intelligence (AI) models.

Previously Google in its policy said public data could be used to latinize its language model, and in an update, the company turned it into an AI model.

In addition, Google will also use publicly available information to build not only features, but also the company's full product.

"We may collect publicly available information online or from other public sources to help train Google's AI models and build products and features such as Google Translate, Bard, and Cloud AI capabilities," Google said in its new policy.

"Alternatively, if your business information appears on a website, we may index it and display it on Google services," it adds.

By updating its policy, Google is notifying people and making it clear that anything they post online can be used to train the Bard chatbot, future versions of it, and other generative AI products Google is developing.

Citing Engadget, Wednesday, July 5, although the update does not change the user experience or have a direct impact on current Google products, many are concerned about the use of information by companies posted online to train their Big Language Model on the use of generative AI.

Recently, a class action lawsuit was filed against OpenAI, alleging the company scraped vast amounts of personal data from the internet, including stolen personal information to train its GPT model without the consent or knowledge of the owner.
