JAKARTA - Microsoft plans to make Bing its default search engine by wooing Firefox, as a way to increase its market share.
According to information compiled from The Information, the Redmond giant, United States (US) is currently competing to secure a contract with Firefox, which is claimed to be extended this year.
Currently Mozilla, the owner of Firefox, is receiving a percentage of advertising revenue generated by Google. However, advertising revenue from Bing is known to be lower than Google Search.
Seeing that, Microsoft is advised to add some capabilities to the deal, such as the integration of Bing Chat to convince Mozilla to make Bing a default.
Bing Chat itself is a chatbot based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) that uses OpenAI's GPT technology.

In fact, another opportunity can also be reached by Microsoft if the company makes Bing more sophisticated than Google Search. Where Apple's Safari browser is scheduled to terminate its contract with Google next year.
This could be Microsoft's opportunity to make Bing the main browser on the iPhone.
Launching ONMSFT, Friday, May 12, the company has been trying to expand its user base by continuing to provide Bing Chat capabilities since its launch.
Not long ago, Bing Chat came with a feature to save user chat history. So users can re-trace their interactions with Google's competitor AI chatbot Bard.
