JAKARTA - Competition in the realm of IA will be even more exciting. Mozilla recently poured $30 million into building startup Mozilla.ai, focused on a trustworthy and independent open-source Artificial Intelligence (AI) ecosystem.
"Mozilla.ai's vision is to make it easy to develop trustworthy AI products. We will build things and hire or collaborate with people who share our vision. AI is agency, accountability, transparency and openness at its core," according to a statement from Mozilla on the company's official website, quoted on Friday, March 24.
Mozilla.ai will be a space beyond big tech and academia to come together with like-minded founders, developers, scientists, product managers, and builders.
"We believe that this group of people, working collectively, can turn the tables to create an AI ecosystem that is self-sufficient, decentralized and trustworthy, a real counterbalance to the status quo," said Mozilla.
The Firefox browser owner also said Mozilla.ai's initial focus would be acting as a tool that makes generative AI safer and more transparent.
As well as the recommendation system will be human-centered which does not provide wrong information or damage the welfare of the company.
Mozilla.ai will spend the next few months developing tools such as allowing users to interrogate the source behind the answers that the AI chatbot gives them.

The company will also give users greater control over content recommendation AI (that is, the algorithm that drives YouTube, Twitter, and TikTok feed).
For example, a system that optimizes recommendation providers for individual or community values, was built based on existing Mozilla research.
More details will be disclosed by the company in the coming months. Later, Mozilla.ai will be led by Managing Director Moez Draief.
Moez has spent more than a decade working on cutting-edge AI practical applications as an academic at Imperial College and LSE, and chief scientists in the industry. Karim Lakhani from Harvard, Navina Singh from Credo, and Mark Surman will be a member of Mozilla's early board.ai
