Responding To Public Anxiety, MUI Will Discuss PIK 2 Project At Mukernas 4th

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) will review the issue of the construction of the national strategic project Pantai Indah Kosambi or PIK 2 in Tangerang following complaints of unrest from the public, especially among scholars related to the project called Tropical Coastland.

A study related to this will be held at the 4th MUI National Working Conference (Murkenas) which will take place 17-19 December 2024.

"Their concern is as an aspect that we receive (to study it into Mukernas) and on the other hand it concerns supporting the commitment of the people's economy launched by President Prabowo Subianto," said Head of Information and Communications at MUI, Masduki Baidlowi, who was met after the opening of the 4th MUI Mukernas at Sahid Jaya Building, Jakarta, Tuesday afternoon, was confiscated by Antara.

On this occasion, Baidlowi emphasized that the issue of PIK 2 in the Mukernas is a form of commitment from MUI as a servant of the ummah community (khodimul ummah) and affirms the role of a government partner (shodiqul hukumah).

As for the results of the assessment of the project, he said, MUI will also invite representatives from the Central Government; the Ministry of ATR/BPN and the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs to jointly discuss it together at this Mukernas.

The results of the study will be summarized by members of the MUI Mukernas and published into a recommendation that will be given to the Government so that the construction of this project in the future can take place in line with its kindness.

"Including factual issues among other communities related to education and the economy, we will discuss and review them for the common good," he said.

The 4th MUI Mukernas was attended by 304 participants consisting of the MUI Advisory Council, the MUI Leadership Council, the Provincial MUI Leaders throughout Indonesia, representatives of Islamic Organizations and other guests.
