The floods that hit several villages in the Kintom and Nambo sub-districts, Banggai Regency, Central Sulawesi Province, on Tuesday night caused 145 houses to be inundated according to data from the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD).
Head of Emergency and Logistics Division of BPBD Central Sulawesi Province Andy A. Sembiring said that floods hit Solan Baru Village in Kintom District and Sayambobungin and Padungnyo Villages in Nambo District on Tuesday (1/8) at around 19.30 WITA.
He said that the flood that came following heavy rains from day to night caused residents' houses in Solan Baru Village to be inundated as high as approximately half a meter.
"A total of 90 housing units were flooded, one house was moderately damaged, and one worship facility was affected by flooding in Solan Baru Village. One family fled to a safe place," Andy said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 2. In the Nambo District area, he said, high-intensity rain caused Uwe Buk River to overflow and flood residential areas, causing inundation of about one meter high.
According to him, the flood inundated 30 houses and one place of worship in Sayambogin Village as well as 25 houses and one auxiliary health center in Padungnyo Village.
"Eight families in Padungyo Village chose to flee to a safe place," he said.
Andy said that currently the rain had subsided and the flood had receded in Solan Baru Village, Sayambogin, and Padungnyo.
