West Kalimantan Grand Kubu Emergency Response To Forest And Land Fires, Police Form Handling Task Force

The police formed a special team to deal with the emergency response status of forest and land fires (karhutla) in Kubu Raya Regency, West Kalimantan (Kalbar).

"We formed a special team that served 24 hours to handle public reports if hotspots were found in the Kubu Raya area," said Kubu Raya Police Chief AKBP Arief Hidayat, in Kubu Raya, West Kalimantan, Tuesday, July 1, confiscated by Antara.

Arief explained that the emergency response status of forest and land fires in Kubu Raya Regency was valid for 14 days since it was set on July 31, 2023. This was due to the increase in forest and land fires or hotspots in the area.

In addition to forming a special team, his party is also aggressively carrying out patrols and appeals to the public regarding the dangers and impacts of forest and land fires.

"In addition to handling hotspots, we also mobilize personnel for patrols and make appeals so that all parties, including the community, participate in preventing and tackling forest and land fires," said Arief.

According to him, in Kubu Raya Regency there are several points where forest and land fires occur, including Sungai Kapap, Rasau Jaya and Sungai Raya sub-districts.

"Officers are cooling down the area," he said.

In addition, there are also six sub-districts that have the potential to occur in forest and land fires.

Therefore, said Arief, the Kubu Raya Police carried out a mass appeal with the aim of raising public awareness not to clear agricultural land by burning land.

"To overcome forest and land fires is not only the duty of the police, but our responsibility, including the community, let's protect nature, then nature will protect us," he concluded.
