JAKARTA - Head of the Park Section of the East Jakarta City Park and Forest Service, Yanti Rosanna, said that the assets of the UKI Cawang City Forest land that were used as nests for the LGBT group belonged to PT Jasa Marga.

Meanwhile, the City Parks and Forests Sub-department is only tasked with maintaining green open space which was recently rumored to be the group's gathering location.

"The city's forest (UKI Cawang) itself is not an asset of the local government. It is still Jasa Marga. Well, we only get the task of maintaining it," Yanti said when contacted, Thursday, July 27.

Yanti admitted that the Cawang City Forest is actually not a city park that functions as a place for community recreation. The main function of urban forest is as the lungs of a city that reduces environmental degradation.

"The designation of the city's forests and parks is different. The forest has more emphasis, especially on oxygen supply. The city park is more for the use of the community," said Yanti.

So, if people want to use the city forest as a gathering place, Yanti said the government cannot simply turn it into a city park. Moreover, the forest of UKI Cawang City is not an asset belonging to the DKI Provincial Government.

"For the process of changing the city forest to the city park, it will definitely take a long time. Then, it is necessary to change the assets first from the clan service to us. Well, Jasa Marga is not the DKI Regional Government. I don't know if he likes it or not," he explained.

The lack of supervision by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government against green open spaces (RTH) is often misused by criminals to immoral acts.
