Bareskrim Will Check Again Panji Gumilang Regarding Allegations Of Blasphemy

JAKARTA - The head of the Al Zaytun Islamic Boarding School, Panji Gumilang, will be questioned again in a case of alleged religious blasphemy. The investigation plan is in line with the increase in the status of the case to the investigation stage.

"Later in this investigation stage, the person concerned will be summoned again as a witness," said Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, to reporters, Thursday, July 13.

However, regarding the time of the second examination of Panji Gumilang, Ramadhan could not confirm it. The reason is that the second examination of the leadership of the Al Zaytun Islamic Boarding School will only be carried out after the experts have finished providing information.

Including, the results of the Forensic Laboratory (Labfor) in-depth investigation of the evidence that has been obtained.

"No, it hasn't been scheduled yet. We are still completing the examination of all expert witnesses," he said.

Panji Gumilang was due to be inspected for the first time on July 3. The examination was limited to clarification regarding reporting carried out by several parties.

"So the first time an examination is carried out or a request for information is in the form of clarification during the investigation stage," said Ramadhan.

During the first examination, Panji Gumilang was said to have admitted all his statements which were circulated in video form.

In one of the videos circulating on social media, Panji Gumilang said that the Koran was written by the Prophet Muhammad.

Based on the investigation process, other criminal elements were discovered which were allegedly committed by Panji Gumilang. He is suspected of spreading information that causes hatred or hostility between individuals or groups.

This is stated in Article 45a paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 28 paragraph (2) Law Number 19 of 2016 concerning ITE and/or Article 14 of Law Number 1 of 1946 concerning Criminal Law Regulations.
