The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Reveals Lukas Enembe Once Admitted to Having an Illegal Gold Mine

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) revealed that the non-active Governor of Papua, Lukas Enembe, once admitted to having a gold mine before investigators, which made him wealthy. However, the mining turned out to be unlicensed or illegal.

"It was said at the start (of the investigation, ed) that the wealth in question came from an unlicensed gold mine," KPK deputy chairman Alexander Marwata told journalists quoted from KPK RI YouTube, Tuesday, June 27.

Investigators don't just believe Luke's statement, said Alex. "Apparently not as much as we confiscated," he said.

Meanwhile, the number of Lukas' assets that were allegedly related to the crime of money laundering (TPPU) and confiscated by investigators reached IDR 144.5 billion. Head of KPK Reporting Section Ali Fikri said this figure could still increase.

"This number is very likely to continue to increase because we are still identifying other assets suspected of being the proceeds of corruption," Ali told reporters.

As previously reported, Lukas was charged by the KPK with allegations of bribery and gratuities related to infrastructure projects in Papua. Subsequently, he was named a suspect in the alleged crime of money laundering (TPPU).

In investigating this case, the KPK confiscated 27 of his assets with the following details:

1. Money worth IDR 81,628,693,000;

2. Money worth 5,100 US dollars;

3. Money worth 26,300 Singapore dollars;

4. 1 apartment unit in Jakarta with a value of IDR 2 billion;

5. 1 plot of land covering 1,525 m2 which was built by the Grand Royal Angkasa Hotel in Jayapura worth IDR 40 billion;

6. 1 plot of land including a residential building in Jakarta worth IDR 5,380,000,000;

7. 1 plot of land with an area of 862 m2 and a building in Bogor City, West Java worth IDR 4,310,000,000;

8. 1 piece of land with an area of 682 m2 and a building in Jayapura worth IDR 682,000,000;

9. Land area of 2,199 m2 and the building on it in Jayapura valued at IDR 1,099,500,000;

10. Land area of 2,000 m2 and the building on it in Jayapura worth IDR 1 billion;

11. 1 apartment unit in Jakarta valued at IDR 510,000,000;

12. 1 apartment unit in Jakarta valued at IDR 700,000,000;

13. 1 unit of type 36 house in West Koya valued at IDR 184,000,000;

14. Certificate of land ownership in Koya Koso, Abepura, Papua worth IDR 47,600,000;

15. Certificate of ownership of land and buildings in the form of Sasak West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) for a restaurant in Koya Koso, Abepura worth IDR 2,748,000,000;

16. 2 gold bars worth IDR 1,782,883,600;

17. 4 pieces of gold coins with the words 'Property of Mr. Lukas Enembe' in the amount of IDR 41,127,000;

18. 1 piece of the gold pendant in the shape of a lion's head worth IDR 34,199,500;

19. 12 gold rings with stones whose value is still being estimated;

20. 1 gold ring without eyes whose value is still being estimated;

21. 2 silver and white gold rings with values still in the process of being assessed;

22. Gold ore in 1 tumbler with value still at estimated value;

23. 1 unit of Honda HR-V worth IDR 385 million;

24. 1 unit of Toyota Alphard worth IDR 700 million;

25. 1 unit of Toyota Raize car valued at IDR 230 million;

26. 1 unit of Toyota Fortuner car valued at IDR 516,400,000;

27. 1 unit of Honda Civic car valued at IDR 364 million.
