2 Cases Of Monkeypox Detected In Beijing

JAKARTA - Two cases of monkeypox were detected in Beijing, China. One of them is an imported case, while the other is due to close contact. "The two patients in the case are currently being treated at the hospital and their condition is gradually stable," Beijing City health authorities said on Wednesday, June 7, quoted from Antara. Health authorities assisted by local infectious disease control centers conducted an investigation by tracking down the source of the disease. Beijing authorities stated that the transmission monkeypox outbreak poses a low risk. Beijing society has received information about its symptoms, methods of treatment, and prevention. Beijing is not the first place monkeypox cases have been found in China because previously cases of the disease had also been detected in Chongqing City in September 2022. Beijing City disease control authorities say monkeypox is a disease that heals by itself and symptoms usually disappear in two to four weeks.

However, local people are asked to avoid close contact, especially sexual contact with men, with individuals suffering from monkeypox and close contact with wildlife in high-risk countries.
