Ministry Of Health Reminds Areas Of Low Immunization Coverage Potentially KLB

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health highlighted that there are still many regions that have not met the national immunization achievement this year. Nationally, the government targets 100 percent of infants aged 0-11 months to receive complete immunization, with a target achievement in the first trimester of 33.3 percent. "However, in fact, the achievement until April shows that nationally in Indonesia only as many as 175 thousand or 4.02 percent of babies get complete immunizations in Indonesia," said Ministry of Health spokesman Mohammad Syahril in his statement, quoted Thursday, May 25. In fact, Syahril said that there are five provinces whose achievements are still below 1 percent, namely Maluku, North Sumatra, Papua, DI Yogyakarta, and Aceh. Syahril said that areas like this have the potential to cause extraordinary events (outbreaks) of a deceased. “Of course this is very worrying and vulnerable to KLB. Due to the low coverage of immunization in children and babies resulting in the absence of Herd Immunity, of course, there will be the potential for an Outbreak or KLB,” said Syahril. Not only for infants, in the complete immunization of assumeers (IBL), there are still 17 provinces in Indonesia that are still below the national immunization target, with the lowest 3 achievements, namely West Sumatra, Papua, and Aceh. In addition, the complete coverage of advanced immunization for elementary school age in 2022 shows that as many as 8 provinces have not yet reached the 70 percent achievement target. Even Aceh province is still below 30 percent. This complete advanced immunization at the age of elementary school can be seen from the percentage of 6th grade elementary school children who have received complete further immunizations including one dose of DT, one dose of rubellatia and 2 doses of Td in one region within one year. Furthermore, Syahril explained, immunization coverage must be boosted, considering that the majority of provinces in Indonesia have a high risk of transmission of polio, Measles, and diphtheria. A total of 21 provinces and 296 regencies/cities are areas with a high risk of polio transmission. Likewise with Measles. A total of 10 provinces and 194 regencies/cities in Indonesia are included in areas with a high and very high risk of wajah transmission. Even in 2022 to 2023, there will be type 2 polio KLB in Indonesia. In 2022 in Aceh Province in Pidie, North Aceh, and Bireuen Regencies, and in 2023 the coverage of polio immunization in Purwakarta, West Java is very low.

“ In an effort to pursue immunization coverage, the Ministry of Health is implementing an additional immunization program for polio, diphtheria andembikes. Additional immunizations of polio were carried out in the provinces of West Java, Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, and Riau. Meanwhile, additional immunization of the diphtheria was carried out in Garut district, as well as immunization of additional pagoda in Central Papua province,” he added.
