JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health operates two units of Indonesian Hajj Health Clinic (KKHI) facilities in Saudi Arabia to bring health services closer to pilgrims who are prospective pilgrims who worship this year.
"During the pilgrimage, the Ministry of Health established two KKHIs, in Mecca located in Aziziyah Janubiyah and Medina located in Al Arid," said Head of the Haji Liliek Health Center, Marhaendro Susilo, as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, May 23.
KKHI is a health service facility for Indonesian pilgrims who need outpatient services, hospitalizations, emergency, intensive care units, referrals, supporting examinations, sanitation services, nutrition services, as well as wukuf safari services, tanazul and evacuation.
KKHI Mecca has a capacity of 257 beds consisting of 223 inpatient beds, 10 ICU beds, and 24 emergency rooms.
In addition, KKHI Mecca is also equipped with dental polyclinics and medical rehabilitation, laboratories, pharmaceutical services, as well as supporting facilities such as operating rooms, ultrasound, EKG, Echocardiography and three emergency ambulances.
"KKHI Mecca is located very strategic, namely near the Grand Mosque, Mina and the road to Arafah. Usually, when the peak of the pilgrimage is around 5 to 9 Dzulhijjah, KKHI Mecca has been filled with members of the Hajj pilgrims who are getting tired and fall ill," he said.
To face the peak of the pilgrimage, KKHI Mecca is also equipped with specialist services such as internal diseases, lungs, heart and blood vessels, nerves, souls, surgery, anesthesia, physical medicine, rehabilitation, and aviation medicine.

KKHI Medina is also equipped with laboratories, pharmacies, dentists, 11 ambulance units, as well as supporting facilities such as ultrasound, EKG, and Echocardiography.
"Although the KKHI Medina is on a smaller scale than the KKHI Mecca, it still has services such as hospitals with specialist services," he said.
Liliek explained that the specialist services owned by KKHI Medina are anesthesi, surgery, emergency treatment, heart and blood vessels, internal diseases, lungs, cassava, orthopedics, and mental medicine.
"All of these health services are one of the efforts to reduce the death rate of members of Indonesian pilgrims in Saudi Arabia and ensure the smooth implementation of the pilgrimage for pilgrims from Indonesia," he said.
