Thousands of Correctional Prisons and Detention Centers in DKI Jakarta Get Remissions for Eid Al-Fitr, 109 People Free

JAKARTA - Head of DKI Jakarta Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Ibnu Chuldun. providing special remissions for 7,624 convicts or prison inmates (WBP) in a number of Correctional Institutions and Detention Centers throughout DKI Jakarta.

"The granting of special remissions was carried out simultaneously in a number of prisons and detention centers in Jakarta. Thousands of inmates who received remissions have fulfilled the administrative and substantive requirements", said Jakarta Head of Regional Office for the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Ibnu Chuldun, to journalists, Saturday, April 22.

Out of a total of 16,056 WBP or convicts, only 7,833 WBP have met the requirements. Of the 7,833 proposed WBPs, only 7,624 have been approved by the Director General of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights.

"Symbolically, special remissions were given to 8 WBP representatives from correctional institutions and detention centers in Jakarta. Symbolic remissions were held at Cipinang Class 1 Correctional Institutions, East Jakarta", he said.

Ibnu explained, the prison term is an opportunity for prisoners to introspect and hone their skills so that they have the provision for a future life after being released from correctional institutions, detention centers and LPKA.

"More than 98% of the granting of special remissions for this Eid holiday has reached 109 WBP people in Jakarta who received special remissions 2 or free remissions. On this Eid Al-Fitr, they are immediately free to return to their families and communities", he said.

Meanwhile, from the statement of a female prisoner named Rahmawati (31) from Pondok Bambu Correctional Institution, she felt happy after getting a special remission. However, the WBP in the fraud case has not been able to breathe free air.

"Grateful for the remission for this holiday, hopefully we can go home soon. Insyaallah (free) next month, currently still waiting for free time. I really miss my family. Today's family will visit me", said the woman who was sentenced to two years in prison.

Rahma also appreciated the Correctional officers who had provided a number of positive activities for him.

"Thanks to the officers who always look after us, we are guided and always well directed. There (Pondok Bambu Women's Correctional Institutions) we can knit, recite the Koran, and spend more time with positive things", she said.
