Entering Kupang Airport Without Documents, 15 Kg Of Goat Meat From Sumba Was Destroyed

JAKARTA - The Kupang Class 1 Agricultural Quarantine Center destroyed 15 kilograms (kg) of goat meat sent from Sumba via El Tari Kupang Airport.

The head of the Kupang Agricultural Quarantine, Yulius Umbu Hunggar, said the reason for the destruction of goat meat was because it was not equipped with documents from quarantine in Sumba.

"A number of kilograms of goat meat that fall into the category of ware animals were destroyed because they did not have documents from the Sumba quarantine," he told reporters in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), Friday, March 31, which was confiscated by Antara.

He explained that the extermination was carried out as an effort to prevent the entry and spread of disease pests, and also as a socialization to the public regarding the duties and functions of Agricultural Quarantine.

The extermination effort was also carried out in accordance with the direction of the Head of the Agricultural Quarantine Agency so as not to be careless in guarding in places of income from commodities that have the potential to carry pests of dangerous diseases.

He added that the destruction process was witnessed by relevant agencies including the Representative of Angkasa Pura Logistics, the Eltari Security Task Force (Satgas Pam), Aviation Security (AVSEC).

According to him, Agricultural Quarantine has a very strategic role in efforts to prevent the entry and spread of Quarantine Animal Disease Pests (HPHK) and Quarantine Plant Disturbing Organisms (OPTK).

Quarantine also prevents the entry of other hazardous materials into the territory of the Republic of Indonesia. For this reason, the media carrying quarantine that is traffic must ensure that HPHK and OPTK are free and meet food safety requirements.

Quarantine measures consist of 8P, namely Examination, Accomposition, Observation, Treatment, Detention, Rejection, Destruction, and Liberation.

In addition, the Kupang Agricultural Quarantine Head, along with the Sub-Coordinator for Supervision and Enforcement, as well as the Animal Quarantine Functional Coordinator were also present during the destruction of the goat meat.

According to him, to prevent the entry of various animal diseases such as mouth and nail disease (PMK) and the disease of Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD). Therefore, he thanked a number of parties involved in the prevention.
