JAKARTA - SM Entertainment will present a new survival event titled NCT Universe: LASTART. This event will feature several trainers competing to debut in NCT's last unit.

Monday, July 10, NCT Universe: LASTART released the first two trainers in a separate introductory video. Later there will be 10 trainers competing for NCT's last unit starting from Riku and Ryo.

Two 36-second videos feature Riku and Ryo in a short teaser. Their visuals are the main focus in the video.

LASTART was first announced on June 30 in NCT's latest video. As the name implies, LASTART is a program consisting of LAST and START which means the end of NCT's expansion and the beginning of the new team.

In addition, SM Entertainment has announced two members who joined NCT's new unit, they are Yushi and Sion. They are currently still in SM Rookies, SM's trainee unit before debuting with the group.

BoA and Super Junior's Eunhyuk will be the directors who guide and judge the trainees. The plan is for several artists under the auspices of SM Entertainment to also be present in every episode to support the program.

SM Entertainment announced that NCT's expansion will end this year. This decision is different from the initial plan where they made the NCT concept as a group with unlimited number of members.

So far NCT has debuted NCT U, NCT 127, NCT Dream, and WayV. Then Sungchan and Shotaro, who initially joined NCT, were decided to leave and not debut in NCT's last unit.

Sungchan and Shotaro will debut with SM's new group along with Eunseok and Seunghan from SM Rookies.

The NCT Universe: LASTART event will air starting July 27 globally.
