Less World Stock, Jokowi Disburses IDR 700 Billion To Pindad To Boost Bullet Production

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said the world is currently short of stock of bullets.

In fact, Jokowi admitted that he was often asked about bullets during working visits to various countries.

This was conveyed by Jokowi when visiting the Pindad Amunist Warehouse in Greater Java, Turen, Malang, East Java. During his visit, Jokowi was also accompanied by Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto and Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir.

"Today I came to Pindad with the Minister of Defense Pak Prabowo and Mr. Erick Thohir, Minister of SOEs to see the prospects for products produced by Pindad, because every time I visit other countries they always ask questions related to this item, bullets, now the world is lacking in bullets," he said. Jokowi, Monday, July 24.

Due to large demand or demand, Jokowi said PT Pindad was given an additional State Capital (PMN) of IDR 700 billion to increase the production capacity of bullets.

Before being given PMN the production of Pindad for this bullet was 275 million bullets. After we gave PMN the amount of Rp700 billion, its production increased by 415 million bullets almost doubled because it has an additional line from the PMN we have given it," he said.

Jokowi emphasized that the domestic defense industry has good prospects. Therefore, he said it needed to be developed.

"I just want to underline that the defense industry in our country has good prospects and must be developed both with regard to bullets, both those related to vehicles, related to weapons, all because of their many requests," he said.
