JAKARTA - Tire manufacturer Michelin is committed to developing and producing electric vehicle tires that are more environmentally friendly through the use of sustainable materials of up to 100 percent by 2050.

According to the company, this commitment is to support the government's steps regarding the commitment to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 29 percent by 2030 and achieve net zero carbon or zero emissions by 2060 by developing an electric vehicle ecosystem in the country.

President Director of Michelin Indonesia Sai Banu Ramani, in a press release, quoted from Antara, Saturday, May 13, said that Michelin Group is committed to integrating sustainable materials in developing tires while maintaining performance and minimizing environmental impacts at every stage of the life cycle, from design, production, transportation, use, to recycling.

"We believe that by bringing an 'All-Sustainable' approach embedded in the Michelin Group's strategy through a balanced development between people, profit, and planets, we can contribute more to empowering and preserving the environment and meeting the expectations of our customers," said Ramani.

Michelin implemented sustainable innovation and technology for electric vehicle tires to accommodate four essential quality tires devoted to electric vehicles including tire life, larger load indexes, scroll barriers, and low noise levels.

Technical support engineers for Michelin Indonesia consumers Mochammad Fachrul Rozi added that Michelin designed electric car tires with more advanced technology to optimize the performance of electric vehicles.

"The range of batteries, silence in the cabin, and age of tire use will be optimized while maintaining the level of safety and pleasure of driving," said Fachrul.

In terms of use, Fachrul also advised that electric car owners continue to take care of tires consistently so that the age of using tires is longer.

Some things that need to be considered include always checking wind pressure according to manufacturer's recommendations and not using palm tubes made from petroleum or chemical.

The last step is to check the condition of the entire tire periodically, make sure there are no cuts or damage to the tire wall and the tire flow is still suitable for use and still has ideal thickness.
