All England 2022 Champions Resign, 18 Indonesian Representatives Will Struggle At The 2023 Australian Open
JAKARTA A total of 18 Indonesian representatives will play at the 2023 Australian Open. The following is the schedule and list of national badminton players who will play in the event.
The Australian Open 2023 will take place at the State Sports Center, Sydney, starting Tuesday, August 1. Indonesian representatives have arrived and have held exercises.
In the previous list, Indonesia sent 19 representatives who wanted to appear in this Super 500 BWF event. However, it shrank to 18 due to the withdrawal of the Bagas Maulana/Muhammad men's doubles Shohibul Fikri.
The All England 2022 champion pair chose to withdraw from his participation in the event with a total prize of 420,000 US dollars. The decision was made because Bagas suffered an injury at the right thigh base.
"The injury occurred while playing at the Japan Open last time. At that time the Bagas movement was so limited and there was pain at the base of his thigh," said men's doubles coach Herry Iman Pierngadi in a statement received.
Without Bagas/Fikri's participation, Indonesia's strength in the men's doubles number remains with five representatives. Two of them are Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto and Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan.
The rest of the men's and men's singles numbers each sent three representatives, two representatives' women's doubles, and finally the mixed doubles sent five pairs.
The first batch containing Indonesian representatives departing from Jakarta arrived at Smith Sydney's Kingsford International Airport on Monday, July 31 at 06.00 local time. Three hours later it was the team's turn from Japan to follow.
Arriving there, they immediately went through training to prepare for tomorrow's match. This exercise trains the adaptation of players while at the same time restoring their physical condition.
"The benefits that can be obtained from this exercise, the main thing is to adapt to the match arena. The rest is also to restore conditions so that they can return to fitness," said Fajar.
