Agricultural Quarantine Ensures Livestock From Flores Lalui Screening Is Tight Until Declared Healthy
NTT - Ende Agricultural Quarantine Station ensures that livestock entering and leaving the Port of Reo, Manggarai Regency, Flores Island, has gone through strict screening to fulfill health cooperation.
"We ensure that animals that are trafficked are guaranteed their health and feasibility," said the person in charge of the Agriculture Quarantine Ende Reo Working Area, Imam Kamaludin from Reo, Manggarai, Flores, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), Monday 31 July, confiscated by Antara.
He explained that the livestock trafficked from Reo Port came from West Manggarai, Manggarai, East Manggarai, and Ngada Regencies.
Before being trafficked, the animal received a health check by the local Livestock Service, then a Animal Health Certificate (SKKH) and Expenditure Recommendations were issued to be brought into the Reo Animal Quarantine Installation (IKH).
After entering IKH Reo, animals undergo a 14-day quarantine period in the form of exile and observation. During that period, quarantine officials carried out physical and clinical examinations every day. Then the cage and equipment are disinfected every three days.
Furthermore, officers took a Rose Bengal Test (RBT) test for the detection of brucellosis, a Real Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) test for the detection of mouth and nail disease (PMK), as well as a blood plate test for the detection of surra disease.
"After the 14-day quarantine period is over, the results of the laboratory test are negative for diseases, complete requirements documents, so an Animal Health Certificate (KH-11) and animals are ready to be trafficked," he said.

Based on data from January 2023 to July 31, 2023, 3,319 livestock have been trafficked, consisting of 1,294 cows, 1,392 buffalo, 39 horses, and 594 goats.
The destinations for the delivery of livestock include Banjarmasin, Jeneponto, Palembang, Bogor, and Bekasi.
"Those who are currently in the 14-day quarantine period at IKH Reo are 320 cows, 90 buffalo, and 25 horses," he said.

"Animals must be quarantined, clinical examinations are carried out, including a laboratory examination result letter, accompanied by a veterinary letter from the agency and an animal quarantine certificate," he said.
