Iriana Jokowi Appreciates The Free Mobile Vegetable Seller Program To Reduce Stunting Rates In Banyuwangi

BANYUWANGI - First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo (Jokowi) appreciates and admits that she is happy with the program to reduce growth and development of children due to malnutrition or stunting carried out by the Banyuwangi Regency Government (Pemkab), East Java.

"This is good, it must continue until the stunting in Banyuwangi runs out," said Iriana Jokowi after receiving an explanation from mobile vegetable traders who were involved in the stunting reduction program at the Banyuwangi Regency Hall, East Java, reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, July 25.

Accompanied by the wife of Vice President Wury Ma'ruf Amin and the women of the Solidarity Action Organization of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet Era (OASE-KIM), Iriana Jokowi reviewed the stunting handling program, met with posyandu cadres, family assistants, and mobile vegetable sellers who were involved in handling stunting in the eastern tip of Java Island district.

Iriana Jokowi is seen having a dialogue with a mobile vegetable seller, Agus Sunarto, who is in charge of delivering nutritious food for pregnant women and free stunting risk babies.

"This food is delivered every day and immediately, because it must be fresh, ma'am. The food provided must have high protein," Agus explained to Iriana Jokowi.

In Banyuwangi Regency, efforts to handle stunting continue to be boosted by involving various parties, including by sending nutritious food every day for pregnant women and toddlers for nearly 1,300 targeted people.

Banyuwangi Regent Ipuk Fiestiandani explained that to have an impact on small business actors, this program deliberately did not buy food from large manufacturers, but from mobile vegetable traders. They deliver foodstuffs every day with different menus according to the analysis of nutritionists from the puskesmas.

"So parents of toddlers don't have to pay for this food that is sent, because the Banyuwangi Regency Government has already paid. Once rowing, two or three islands are exceeded. Pregnant women are at high risk and toddlers are assisted, vegetable sellers also get additional income," he said.

Handling stunting is currently the government's concern. The government has a national stunting rate target by 2024 below 14 percent.
