In Order To Maintain Position, Tesla Again Cuts Prices To Face Competition
JAKARTA - Tesla Inc has again taken aggressive steps in the United States to attract buyers amid increasingly fierce economic uncertainty and electric vehicle competition.
Reported by Reuters on June 1, Tesla has doubled discounts on several new Model 3 electric cars that have been created, as well as offered discounts on Model Y and other models in US inventory.
One example of the discount given is the Model 3 variant in California, which is now priced at 42,060 US dollars (Rp627 million) with a discount of 2,680 US dollars (Rp40 million) for the newly ordered car. This discount is double the discount of 1,300 US dollars (Rp19 million) offered two weeks earlier.
In addition, Tesla also provides discounts of nearly 600 US dollars (Rp9 million) on several Model Ys, while a larger discount is given to Model X and Model S vehicles at higher prices, namely 6,330 and US $ 5,000 (Rp94 million and Rp74 million), respectively.
Analysts have revealed that Tesla is facing increasing economic barriers and competition, so the company is taking aggressive steps to address the issue. Tesla has cut vehicle prices in many countries and used tactics commonly used by traditional automakers, which is to provide incentives to vacate inventory.
In addition, Tesla is also preparing to launch a new version of the Model 3 in the United States this year. The company has also started shipping several Model Ys with new hardware for a partially automated Autopilot drive system.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced to shareholders this month that the company will try advertising for the first time. This move is expected to increase Tesla's car demand. However, Musk also warned that Tesla is not immune to the global economic impact that is predicted to be difficult in the next 12 months.
