The Smuggling Of 840 Liters Of Pertalite Fuel To Papua New Guinea, 2 Perpetrators Of Jayapura Residents Arrested
PAPUA - The Directorate of Polairud Polda Papua thwarted the smuggling of 840 liters of Pertalite type fuel oil (BBM) to Papua New Guinea (PNG).
From the thwarting operation, the police arrested two residents of Jayapura City, namely DI (38) and BAN (38).
Director of Polairud Polda Papua Kombes Andi Anugrah said the smuggling case was uncovered on Friday, May 5 evening starting from the Gakkum Sub-Division of the Polairud Directorate of the Papua Police receiving information regarding residents who brought and sold Pertalite type fuel to PNG.
From this information, an investigation was carried out, because the information was that the fuel was smuggled by sea using a speedboat.
Kombes Andi added that after receiving the information, the team immediately moved to pursue the perpetrators.
He said, at around 20.50 WIT in the Holtekamp Jayapura waters, the team stopped the perpetrator's speed boat and found 24 blue jerry cans containing 840 liters of Pertalite type fuel.

The perpetrators and evidence were secured at the Mako Dit Polairud Polda Papua for further investigation.
Both of them have been named as suspects and subject to Article 55 of Law No. 22 of 2001 concerning oil and gas which has been amended in Article 40 number 9 of Law No. 6 of 2023 concerning the stipulation of the replacement of Law No. 2 of 2022 concerning job creation into law in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) to 1 of the Criminal Code.
