Jambi BKSDA Calls Special Equipment Needed To Catch Sun Bears In Tanjabbar
JAMBI - The Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) Jambi through the Tungkal Ilir resort sent a team to Teluk Kulbi Village and surrounding villages in Betara District, West Tanjung Jabung Regency (Tanjabbar) to carry out a mapping to catch sun bears that enter residential areas.Head of BKSDA Tungkal Resort Ilir Abu Syauqi said his party sent a team to analyze the environment where the sun bear (Helarctos Malayanus) is located. Are they still around plantations and residential areas, or return to the forest as their habitat. The team, he said, was analyzing it to see the position and facilitate arrest."We also send a team to the next village because there is also a report and the BKSDA has communicated with the head of Teluk Kulbi Village and it is necessary to analyze it first before the arrests are made," said Abu Syaugi, Antara, Thursday, May 4.The catching of the sun bear requires special equipment that must have a permit because it belongs to the state. "We need permission with a letter of correspondence first," he said.He hopes that the team that is deployed will find the location where the bear will be caught."Later on, the results of the analysis will be our basis for making arrests where to do it right." said Abu Syaugi.
To note, the protected animals have entered residential areas since March 2023. Bears classified as wild and protected animals not only went to settlements, but also to local residents' plantations so that people were worried while working and at home. They are worried when they are attacked by bears.
