Kai EXO Departs Military Mandatory May 11
JAKARTA - Kai EXO surprised the public with his mandatory military announcement. He will depart for duty next week in accordance with SM Entertainment's statement.
"We have to give news to fans regarding Kai's military service," said SM Entertainment through the fan community website.
"Kai is preparing an EXO comeback schedule this year, but due to changes in military administration regulations, he will go to a training center on May 11 where he will receive basic military exercises and then serve as a public service worker," the agency explained.
The singer whose real name is Kim Jongin hopes to leave behind closed doors so that SM Entertainment states that there will be no release ceremony. They also hope that fans can respect Kai's decision.
"According to Kai's desire to be conscripted in the military calmly, his time and location will not be announced and there will be no special events, so we ask for the understanding of fans," said SM Entertainment.

Previously Kai leaked plans for EXO to release an album this year. They greeted fans at a fan meeting last April and performed a new song from an album that had not been announced.
Kai himself became one of the last two members of EXO who served in the military. Apart from Kai, there is Sehun who is expected to carry out military service with Kai. Meanwhile, Xiumin, Suho, Chanyeol, Baekhyun, Chen, DO have completed the military service.
