Apple Will Release IOS 18 With The AI Feature, Unfortunately Not All IPhones Are Compatible

JAKARTA - Apple is expected to release a new iOS 18 operating system in June that will introduce AI-based features, but not all iPhones will be compatible.

Anyone still using an iPhone released before 2018, including SE series and 8 Plus or earlier models, will not have access to iOS 18.

The old iPhone won't be compatible because of the outdated hardware chip that has slower processors and fewer memory that can't support high-power features.

This year's operating system is set to be Apple's "largest" update to partner with Google's AI Gemini, which will create images and write essays based on simple instructions on the iPhone for the first time. The iPhone 8 and previous models will not be compatible with iOS 18 software updates.

Apple is expected to launch iOS 18 at the upcoming World Developer Conference (WWDC) scheduled for June 10 to 14.

WWDC will start everything with a keynote address that usually reveals a new operating system for iPhone, Mac, iPad, Apple Watch, and TV. The newly released Vision Pro owner may also get an update.

However, users are mostly waiting for an iPhone operating system update - and AI is predicted to be the center of attention.

The smart device will need Apple's A12 Bionic chip to be compatible with the iOS 18 update introduced when the company released the iPhone XR and iPhone XS models in 2018.

iPhones with A11 Bionic (iPhone X, 8 and 8 Plus) chips and A10 Fusion (iPhone 7 and 7 Plus) chips will also not be able to support updates effectively.

If your iPhone is not a series 11 to 15 model or the second and third generations of SE, XR, XS, and XS Max, you will lose access to iOS 18 and all future software updates.

Apple's AI feature is expected to improve Siri, allowing it to provide a more accurate response while the Messages app will answer questions and complete sentences automatically, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.

The new update is ready to help users create recommended playlists and playlists automatically after iOS 17 years ago which introduced a collaborative playlist as offered on Spotify.

The operating system that will appear is also expected to add custom route features to Apple Maps that will allow users to enter self-selected directions instead of only having access to previously selected options by Apple.

The main screen is also reported to be upgrading, giving users more customization and control options on how they want to set the app icon.

The iPadOS 18 update will also only support the iPad released after 2018 including the eighth generation iPad, the third generation iPad Pro and iPad Air and the fifth generation iPad mini.

This update comes as Apple's latest iPhone 15 model experienced a significant decline in sales in the weeks after its September release and was called the biggest "failure in Apple's history."

Users complain that material changes color, their phone is overheated, there is a software bug and the durability is lacking, because some users say they can beat the device with their bare hands.

The beta test for iOS 18 is likely to launch in July with a general release date expected in September 2024.
