JAKARTA - Indonesia failed to win a single title at the 2023 BWF World Tour Finals. The last two representatives who remained in the semifinals, namely Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto and Jonatan Christie, failed to continue their steps to the final round. This situation then became the serious concern of the Head of the PBSI Binpres, Rionny Mainaky. According to him, this failure should be a serious evaluation material for athletes and coaches. " “ World Tour Finals is a final test at the end of this year, we haven't succeeded because only two sectors have reached the semifinals, it is targeted that the final has not been able to, has not been achieved," said Rionny Mainaky in an official statement from PBSI quoted on Sunday, December 17. "I hope everyone remains enthusiastic, with this result I can trigger and become a report card to evaluate very seriously for athletes and coaches," he continued. Not only stating that this situation should be an evaluation event for athletes and coaches, but Rionny also stated that this situation was also a whip for him as the Head of Binpres PBSI. Rionny promised to try hard to take the Indonesian Badminton Team to achieve good results at the 2024 Paris Olympics. "I as the Head of Binpres will work extra hard to prepare athletes who will compete in next year's championship," said Rionny. "This requires teamwork from various parties to support the target of winning medals at the 2024 Olympics in Paris," he concluded.

Previously, it was known that Indonesia sent six representatives to the BWF World Tour Finals 2023. Apart from Fajar/Rian and Jonatan Christie, four other names are Anthony Ginting, Gregoria Mariska Tunjung, Bagas Maulana/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri, and Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva who were stopped in the group phase.
