Pepita's Hope For Classical Music Shows To Be More Appreciated In Indonesia

JAKARTA - Pepita became one of the singers who appeared in a music concert entitled An Anime Symphony which was held last weekend.

The classic music concert, which carries the Japanese anime theme, was a success. In fact, 2,000 tickets were sold in a relatively short time.

Seeing the enthusiasm of the Indonesian people for the An Anime Symphony event, Pepita, who has been on the classic music stage for a long time, saw progress from the western music performance in the country.

"I'm really happy and excited, because the concert is sold out. People see a classic show, it's rare to be able to attract people to watch an orchestra show. So, this is an eye opener for people who have never watched an orchestra," said Pepita when met in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta last week.

Before entering the Indonesian music industry, Pepita himself was known as a soprano singer. He studied the vocals of classical music at the New England Conservatory of Music, Boston, United States.

Pepita had already appeared as a soprano in the United States before returning to Indonesia. He even received the Tony Awards and The King And I awards.

Reflecting on the experience of the classic music stage in the United States, Pepita hopes that the Indonesian people will be more appreciated.

According to him, classic music performances do not always have to show classic European composer works, but can also raise many interesting themes that are of interest to the community of supporters.

"Hopefully people will know orchestral music better and can respect the type of music. Because sometimes people also don't want to know, but don't know yet, there is no experience watching it. Actually, classical music here grows, but slowly," concluded Pepita.
