JAKARTA - President Director of PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BBCA) Jahja Setiaatmadja warned customers of BCA paylater users not to use paylaters as a means to pay off customer debts obtained from other money borrowing services.

Jahja said that actually paylater is a means of payment because BCA has also a credit card service.

"Credit cards have been around for a long time but not many people have used them because they are limited. Even though the Indonesian people have hundreds of millions, and credit cards have stricter conditions and bigger ceilings," said Jahja in a press conference held online, Thursday, January 25.

For this reason, he said, BCA paylater services are intended for customers who cannot access BCA credit cards.

"But (paylaters) are not a tool to cover other loans. This is what often happens in the community, for example there is one need for principal borrowing in loans, then due due due to high interest you can't pay, borrow again," said Jahja.

BCA Director Santoso Liem said, although the paylater is a new product and is soft launching, he said the response received from customers was quite good.

Up to 2.5 buklan after the launch of BCA Paylater recorded 52,000 customers with a total ceiling of IDR 400 billion.

"Outstanding is quite good because 25 to 30 percent is quite healthy because this is not to pay off debts elsewhere, but because cash flow needs installments, this is an urgent and consumptive need," concluded Santoso.
