KAPUAS HULU - Until now, floods are still hitting a number of villages and sub-districts in the Kapuas Hulu Regency, West Kalimantan Province, which has affected 25,263 residents in the area by floods.

"Temporary data currently have 25,263 people affected by the flood, there is a possibility that it will continue to grow because several villages and sub-districts are still flooded," said Head of the Kapuas Hulu Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Gunawan, to ANTARA, in Putussibau Kapuas Hulu, Friday, December 8.

Gunawan said that flooding in Kapuas Hulu occurred in several lowlands from November 25 to December 8, 2023.

Based on BPBD Kapuas Hulu records, from the results of monitoring and reports from each village and sub-district, there are 25,263 people with 8,320 families currently affected by the flood.

In fact, the flood also submerged around 1,110 houses and 128 public facilities spread across 30 villages and 2 (two) sub-districts in 7 (seven) sub-districts in Kapuas Hulu Regency.

He said that in South Putussibau District, floods submerged Barak Bay, Kedamin Hilir Village and in North Putussibau District, floods submerged Hilir Kantor Village.

In Embaloh Hilir District, floods hit 9 (nine) villages, namely Belatung, Lawik, Ujung Bayur, Kirin Nangka, Palatik, Keliling Semulung, Nanga Lauk, Nanga Palin and Nanga Embaloh villages.

Bunut Hilir District, the flood also submerged 11 villages, namely Empanggau Hilir Village, Empanggau, Aur Bay, Nanga Tuan, Entibab, Tembang, Ujung Pandang, Kapuas Raya, Bunut Hulu, Bunut Tengah and Bunut Hilir.

Furthermore, floods in Bika Subdistrict hit 7 (seven) villages, namely Peninuang Village, Nanga Manday, Jongkong Manday, Melapi Manday, Jelemuk, Bika and Bika Hulu.

Meanwhile, in Bunut Hulu District, floods occurred in Nanga Payang Village and Temuyuk Village.

Then, the floods in Pengkadan Subdistrict submerged 3 (three) villages, namely Riam Panjang, Mawan and Pengkadan Hilir.

"We are still continuing to input data in coordination with the sub-districts and villages affected by the flood, so that they immediately submit a report," he said.

Gunawan said, his party also alerted a team in disaster management, especially for flood-affected communities who needed evacuation assistance and carried out monitoring and monitoring of disaster conditions at a number of points in the Kapuas Hulu Regency area.

In addition, BPBD Kapuas Hulu has also submitted a disaster status, namely the emergency response.

"We still refer to existing regulations because on the other hand, the determination of emergency response status and also the application for government reserve rice assistance must comply with applicable regulations," said Gunawan.

He said the submission to Bulog Putussibau through the Social Service, so the importance of data collected from villages and sub-districts.

Meanwhile, the current flood conditions, said Gunawan, the water discharge of the Kapuas river has risen again.

"The flood was due to the intensity of rainfall that caused the river to overflow, therefore we ask the public to be alert and alert and remain vigilant and prioritize safety," said Gunawan.
