Israel Again Attacks Refugee Camps In Gaza Strip

JAKARTA - Israeli fighter jets on Thursday morning targeted two houses in a refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip and a refugee camp in the southern part of the enclave.

The attack left at least 23 people dead and many others injured.

At least 17 Palestinians were killed and dozens more injured in an Israeli air strike on a house in the Al-Maghazi refugee camp, reported the Palestinian news agency WAFA, citing local sources as reported by ANTARA from Anadolu, Thursday, December 7.

The news agency also reported that six Palestinians were killed and others were injured in an Israeli military airstrike on a house in the Al-Shabora refugee camp in Rafah, southern Gaza.

This is not the first time Israel has targeted refugee camps. Last week, Israel also attacked residential areas in the Jabalia refugee camps in the northern Gaza Strip, which is the largest refugee camp in Gaza.

Israel also attacked the Al-Shati refugee camp in western Gaza, as well as al-Breij and Al-Maghazi in central Gaza, the state media office in the Gaza Strip said in a statement to Anadolu.

Israel resumed its military offensive in the Gaza Strip last week after a seven-day humanitarian pause with the Palestinian group Hamas.

A record 16,248 Palestinians have been killed and more than 43,616 others injured in incessant air and ground attacks on the enclave since October 7 following cross-border attacks by Hamas.

Israel's death toll in Hamas attacks reached 1,200, according to official figures.
