JAYAPURA - Papua Police Chief Inspector General Mathius Fakhiri said investigators from the General Criminal Investigation Directorate (Ditreskrimum) of the Papua Police continued to assist the Jayawijaya Police in handling the case of the death of humanitarian activist Michelle Kurisi Doga.

"Hopefully, the investigation can reveal who killed the victim," said Fakhiri in Jayapura as reported by ANTARA, Friday, September 8.

He also hopes that the investigation can find out who the perpetrator of the activist's murder and whether it is related to the armed criminal group (KKB) or someone using it.

In addition, with the investigation being carried out, Fakhiri hopes that the cause of the victim is revealed in Wamena. His body was found on the border between Lanny Jaya Regency and Jayawijaya Regency.

From the autopsy results of Michelle's body, it was revealed that the victim died from sharp objects and there were three wounds from sharp objects.

"We are waiting for the results of the investigation to reveal who the perpetrators were and why the victim was killed," explained the police chief.

Meanwhile, the Directorate of Criminal Investigation of the Papua Police, Kombes Arif Bastari, said that his party had received the autopsy results on Michelle's body which was carried out at Bhayangkara Hospital, Jayapura, Friday (1/9).

From the autopsy results, it was revealed that the victim died from sharp body injuries in several parts of his body.

"There were no gunshot wounds. On the victim's body there were stab wounds of sharp objects on the forehead, chest, and back; and it is suspected that the victim was bleeding and died," said Arif Bastari.
