JAKARTA - The men's singles representative of Indonesia, Jonatan Christie, withdrew from his participation in the 2023 Asian Badminton Championships. In fact, he is scheduled to meet Shi Yuqi in the first round match, Wednesday, April 26 at noon WIB. This news is known from the latest updates shared by the world badminton federation (BWF). In the schedule distributed for the Jojo vs Shi Yuqi pairing, it is written that Jonathan WO or walk over.

The men's singles coach, Irwansyah, revealed that one day before the match Jonathan was in good condition while undergoing training. However, the condition of the Red and White champion changed in the afternoon.

"So yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon we had practice at the practice court. Jonathan also participated in the training program well," said Irwansyah at the beginning of the statement.

"But in the afternoon Jonathan suddenly vomited in his room," continued the coach.

Seeing the declining condition of the player, Irwansyah immediately communicated with the PBSI team doctor. Then it was decided that Jojo should be rushed to the hospital, from the results of the examination it was later discovered that he had an infection.

"At the hospital, Jojo was taken blood and diffused. The results of the blood test showed an infection in his blood," explained Irwansyah.

Jonathan's condition got better after handling. However, taking into account that the athlete still had to undergo recovery, Irwansyah decided not to field the player.

"This morning, his condition (Jatan) has improved but is still weak, so we decided to step down," said the coach.
