JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will summon DKI Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan, no later than next week regarding the alleged land corruption case. Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, Ahmad Riza Patria, admitted that he did not want to interfere.
"KPK matters, I think the KPK understands the SOPs, procedures, I don't want to interfere", said Riza at DKI City Hall, Central Jakarta, Monday, July 26.
Riza believes that the KPK will investigate to decide a corruption case fairly and wisely.
Moreover, Riza views that Anies was not involved in the corruption. "Regarding Mr. Anies, I personally believe that Mr. Anies is not involved in such matters", he said.
It was previously reported that the KPK will summon Anies Baswedan as a witness in the alleged corruption case in the procurement of Munjul Land, Pondok Ranggon, Jakarta in 2019. This summons will be carried out as early as this week.
"Give the KPK time to work, in time the KPK will convey to the public as soon as possible this week or next week", said KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri.
However, Firli did not mention the exact date that Anies would be summoned. He only said that the statement from the former Minister of Education and Culture was needed to investigate the case that ensnared the former Director of Perumda Pembangunan Sarana Jaya, Yoory Corneles.
