Puan Praises The Solidarity Of The People That Emerged During Emergency PPKM

JAKARTA - Chair of Indonesian Parliament, Puan Maharani, asked the government to balance the solidarity of the people through the implementation of the Emergency Restrictions on Community Activities (PPKM) policy to reduce the number of new cases and deaths due to COVID-19.

"This is a spirit that must be appreciated and maintained. The government must balance it again with policies that are increasingly in favor of the safety of the people", said Puan, quoted by Antara, Friday, July 16.

Puan appreciates the solidarity that continues to emerge in various forms in the community, such as the establishment of soup kitchens to fundraising which is a solution for providing health facilities or supporting health workers.

Puan reminded that the emergency PPKM should really be used as a momentum to "brake" the rate of COVID-19 cases and prevent as many deaths as possible due to the outbreak.

"All groups with their respective expertise and capacity to intervene to provide solutions related to the challenges of effective and efficient treatment services, especially for people who are undergoing self-isolation due to COVID-19", she said.

According to Puan, the government's initiative to provide telemedicine services should be appreciated, but the implementation in the field must continue to be improved and its scope expanded.

Puan encourages pro-people programs to continue to be improved as a buffer during the pandemic by restricting mobility and anticipating post-pandemic economic developments.

"Effective and efficient handling of the health sector is expected to put a brake on the rate of new cases and deaths due to COVID-19", she said.

Puan assessed that the handling of health problems is a determinant for the nation's next steps, including the foundation for future national economic recovery.
