The Barelang City Police (Batam, Rempang, Galang) revealed the cause of death of an inmate with the initials DS at Batam Class II A State Detention Center on Tuesday, May 2 due to illness. "From the autopsy results submitted by the doctor who examined the victim's body, he explained that the cause of death was due to an illness in the lungs," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Barelang Police, Kompol Budi Hartono when contacted in Batam, Riau Islands, Antara, Friday, May 5. Meanwhile, the Head of the Class II A detention center, Batam Faizal Gerhani Putra, explained that the inmates who were Batam District Court detainees were initially known to have experienced shortness of breath on Tuesday (2/5) at around 10:00 WIB. At the time of the incident, his party also had time to take rescue measures by taking the victim to the clinic in the detention center. "After being examined by our doctor, the victim was directed to the nearest hospital, namely Embung Fatimah's Hospital (Regional General Hospital). But, after arriving there, the victim's life could not be saved," he said. His party is sorry for the incident and this case is an important lesson for his institution to pay more attention if there is a similar incident.
