Patient Early Doctor In Lampung, Ministry Of Health: If Not Processed By Law, There Is No Learning For The Community

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) wants perpetrators of violence against two doctors in West Lampung to receive appropriate punishment as a form of learning for the community.

"What cannot be tolerated is the occurrence of violence against health workers. If there is no legal process, there is no learning for the community," said the Director of Health Workers Development and Supervision at the Ministry of Health, Zubaidah Elvia, via text message, Thursday, April 27, as reported by Antara.

Elvia has led the victim's companion team who has been in Lampung since Wednesday, April 26 to meet and establish intensive communication with the two doctors.

The Ministry of Health provides the legal protection needed for victims as a form of good partnership between the central government, local governments, and security forces so that they are expected to be able to provide escort as long as legal cases run.

"We want to make sure the victim is in a safe, healthy and safe condition. We also have to ensure that the legal process must be completed," he said.

Elvia said that her party had transferred the two doctors to a safe location at the West Lampung Regional Hospital. They will then be placed at the Liwa Health Center during the process of investigating the case.

"The health center is located close to the West Lampung Regency Police. This district is located 5 hours on land from Bandar Lampung," he said.

In a press release from the Ministry of Health, West Lampung Regent Nukman apologized for the case of violence perpetrated by patients against an internship doctor who served at the Fajar Bulan Health Center in West Lampung on Saturday, April 22.

His party supports the ongoing legal process and fully leaves the problem to law enforcement officials.

"I as the local government fully support this process to be continued legally," he said.

Based on the facts on the video footage of the incident, said Nukman, the abuse of the two doctors on duty was among the acts of physical violence that were criticized by many parties.

"Doctors have worked according to the SOP and monitoring for doctors is still carried out effectively and efficiently," he said.

Nukman has conducted an evaluation with all service heads and heads of health centers in West Lampung to anticipate the same incident again.

"Tomorrow we will also hold a meeting with community leaders to ask for security support for every health worker on duty in West Lampung," he said.

He also requested that the placement of internship doctors in West Lampung Regency not be stopped because the community still needs the presence of medical personnel.

On Saturday, April 22, there was persecution experienced by two internship doctors at the Fajar Bulan Health Center while providing health services to patients who came with complaints of heart pain.

Even though they have provided services in accordance with existing procedures, the doctor in charge is subjected to abuse from the patient and the patient's family who are dissatisfied with the services provided.

The Ministry of Health is trying to increase protection for doctors, nurses, midwives, and other health workers through the preparation of materials in the Draft Health Law (RUU) which is currently being discussed by the DPR and the government.
