PT Telkom Explores Collaboration With SpaceX For Equitable Digital Connectivity

JAKARTA - The Indonesian government is exploring cooperation in the use of satellite technology between Telkom and a company from the United States, Space X. The company owned by Elon Musk is expected to be able to send satellites into orbit in order to evenly distribute digital connectivity in Indonesia.

"I think the collaboration with SpaceX is good for Telkom in the context of equitable distribution of digital connectivity in Indonesia," said BUMN observer from the University of Indonesia, Toto Pranoto, to Antara in Jakarta, Thursday, July 22.

According to him, the wide scope of Indonesia's geographical area requires the support of qualified coverage and coverage. "So Space X with its technology is considered as one of the operators with excellence and can be a good alternative for the communication satellites needed by Telkom," said Toto.

PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk is exploring cooperation talks regarding the use of LEO satellite technology with SpaceX in order to improve digital connectivity in Indonesia.

Telkom VP of Corporate Communication Pujo Pramono said that Telkom is committed to supporting the government's efforts to improve digital connectivity throughout Indonesia. Given the geographical area of Indonesia, the role of satellite technology is very much needed to be able to accelerate the distribution of digital connectivity to remote areas of the archipelago.

For this purpose, Telkom is open to partnering with any party that has competence in the use of satellite technology. This is what underlies the discussion of Telkom's cooperation with SpaceX as an American company that is widely known to have strong competence in the development of satellite technology.

It is hoped that with this collaboration, Telkom will be able to provide solutions to accelerate connectivity to remote areas of the archipelago by providing reliable, quality and affordable satellite services.
