DI Yogyakarta Provincial Government Will Immediately Build Oxygen Generator Installation
YOGYAKARTA - The Yogyakarta Special Region Government will soon build an oxygen generator installation to increase the capacity of medical oxygen supply for a number of hospitals.
"The DIY government plans to build three oxygen generators. Hopefully, in the next one to one and a half months, it will be operational", said the Regional Secretary (Sekda) of DI Yogyakarta, Kadarmanta Baskara Aji, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, July 21.
He targets the three oxygen generator installations to be able to fill 400 to 500 large oxygen gas cylinders every day.
Currently, according to Aji, DIY has received the assistance of 100 oxygen concentrator units from the Indonesian Ministry of Health (Kemenkes).
With the addition, he said, currently the total oxygen concentrator in the province has reached more than 500 units, which is expected to help overcome the hospital's dependence on oxygen supply.
"We can meet the needs of five million liters (liquid oxygen) for hospitals, while our needs are 24 million liters so that we can overcome the shortage with oxygen concentrators", he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of the DI Yogyakarta Oxygen Task Force, Tri Saktiyana, said that the construction of the oxygen generator installation will be located at the DI Yogyakarta Appropriate Technology Development Center Complex, which has a number of technical officers to support the construction of the installation.
"This is a (development) process, we are still choosing the types, we will immediately execute them", he said.

According to him, the installation of an oxygen generator has a way of sucking air in the surrounding environment. The air is then compressed and fed into the tube.
Tri is optimistic that with the operation of the oxygen generator in the future, there will be no more oxygen scarcity. It is believed that all the oxygen needs of hospitals in DI Yogyakarta can be fulfilled with a record of positive confirmed cases of COVID-19 not continuing to increase.
"With a record that the upstream is not added. If the upstream (positive confirmation case) can return to mid-June 2021, I make sure there is no oxygen shortage", he said.
