220 Police Personnel Escort 60 Ambulances To Pick Up The COVID-19 Patients Who are Self-isolation

JAKARTA - Riau Police deployed as many as 220 police personnel to escort 60 ambulance units that will pick up COVID-19 patients who are undergoing self-isolation.

"The escort is carried out to expedite the transportation of self-isolated patients from the patient's house to the hospital or isolation place provided by the government", said Riau Police Chief Inspector General Agung Setia Imam Effendi, in Pekanbaru, quoted by Antara, Thursday, July 15.

Inspector General Agung said the escort of each ambulance unit was manned by 1 doctor, 2 health workers, and a driver who was escorted by Traffic Unit officers and the Directorate of Samapta Bhayangkara of the Riau Police.

Together with a team of doctors, he said, health workers will be escorted by police officers from Ditlantas and Sabhara who simultaneously pick up COVID-19 patients who are self-isolating to be taken to an independent integrated isolation place to get better health services.

"For now, Riau is tightening the implementation of PPKM, where currently most regions have implemented Micro Restrictions on Community Activities (PPKM)", he said.

According to data from the Riau COVID-19 Task Force, as of July 14, 2021, there were 987 people infected with 447 recoveries.

"The involvement of the Riau Police is a step that together we must overcome COVID-19 in Riau, especially in Pekanbaru", he continued.

In addition, the aim is to help people exposed to COVID-19 according to the direction of the Deputy Governor of Riau. "Hopefully today our brothers and sisters can be handled well and then overall we can handle COVID-19 well. What we do is recorded by God as an act of worship", said Agung.

"Riau Police together with the COVID-19 Task Force will continue to maintain the spirit of the apparatus and all officers not to slack and what they are doing is always invigorated", said Inspector General Agung.
