Hacked Instagram Account, Kulon Progo KPU Not Reporting Police: We Have Handled Everything
The KULO PROGO - Instagram account of the General Election Commission (KPU) of Kulon Progo Regency, Special Region (DI) Yogyakarta, was hacked.
Chairman of the KPU Kulon Progo Regency, Ibah Muthiah, said the hack occurred before the closing of the registration of prospective members of the Kulon Progo Regency DPRD for the 2024 General Election.
"This hack has nothing to do with the registration of legislative candidates. I received a report on Sunday (May 14) around 19.00 WIB. We immediately anticipate that," said Ibah in Kulon Progo, Monday, May 15, as reported by Antara.
Ibah said the password change should be periodic, like once every 3 months. However, because of the busyness of all local KPU personnel, there was no change.
"We implement an information security system that must change passwords every 3 months. This hack reminds us to always change passwords even though they are busy," he said.
Ibah said that currently Instagram is back to normal.
"We have asked the public relations party, and it is back to normal," he said.

"The information security management system must change passwords or otherwise. This is to anticipate social media hacking," he said.
