Eid Holiday After, West Java Police Food Task Force Checks Markets To Anticipate Scarcity
The West Java (West Java) Regional Police Food Task Force (Satgas) checked a number of traditional markets in Bandung City to anticipate the scarcity of foodstuffs after Lebaran 2023.
Director of the Special Criminal Investigation of the West Java Police, Kombes Pol Deni Okvianto, said that one of the markets that was checked was the Kosambi Market. He ensured that a number of basic commodities in the market were still stable.
"So, our control to maintain price stability will be related to inflation. So, so far in the city of Bandung, it is still quite stable and food safety is quite good," Deni said in Bandung, Wednesday, May 3, as quoted by Antara.
Despite finding stable conditions, he said there was a slight decrease in the price of basic commodities, namely chicken meat. Previously, the price of chicken during Lebaran was around Rp. 42 thousand per kilogram, but now the price has dropped to around Rp. 38 thousand.
He also coordinated with traders and chicken meat suppliers to find out the cause of the price fluctuations. Deni said that his party would act quickly to overcome problems in the field.
In general, several other basic necessities in West Java are gradually decreasing. Apart from the Kosambi Market, Deni also examined Kiaracondong Market to monitor the availability of foodstuffs.
"We also check rice, then chilies, in vegetables there are cayenne peppers, curly chilies, then large red chilies, onions, then cooking oil, then chicken meat, meat is also stable, there are some fish," he explained.

Meanwhile, the Head of Distribution and Consumption Division of the Department of Food Security and Agriculture (DKPP) of Bandung City, Rima Rosmiati, ensured that the availability of food in the area was in a surplus condition. So, people don't have to worry about scarcity and buying enough staples.
"To the public, it is hoped that it will not panic too much because it greatly affects the increase. The more panicked and buy a lot, it will affect the price too," said Rima.
