Minister of Youth and Sports Ensures World Beach Games 2023 Can Be Held in Bali Safely, Israel Does Not Participate
JAKARTA - The ANOC World Beach Games 2023 will be held in Bali. There was once a rejection from the Governor of Bali, I Wayan Koster, but now it has been confirmed that the event will still be held on the Island of the Gods.
Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Dito Ariotedjo said the Israeli team would not participate in the 2023 World Beach Games. So, he emphasized that there would be no more problems.
"It's safe. There's no problem. The Olympic committee has released the participating countries on April 27. I didn't see Israel's name. So there's no polemic," said Dito Ariotedjo at the Vice Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday, April 26.
"So 'clear' there will be no rejection," he continued, as reported by Antara.
The World Beach Games will be attended by 69 countries in Bali from 28 April to 1 May 2023. This event will be held on 5-12 August 2023.
This activity is the largest multi-branch event based on the number of participating countries that has ever been held in Indonesia and can be a stepping stone towards "bidding" to host the 2036 Olympics.
In the CdM Meeting, the Indonesia ANOC World Beach Games Organizing Committee will present the readiness of the host, be it the arena, accommodation, transportation, and others. AWBG Bali 2023 will be attended by around 1,600 athletes from 130 countries. Athletes who appear must go through a rigorous qualification process until July 2023.
